This post isn't holiday-themed, per se, except the movie comes out this month and tickets to it would make the perfect present. To me, DREAMGIRLS is the perfect movie: glitz, glamour, amazing talent, and some really top-notch costume. Seriously. The dresses these girls wear are a testament to all that was great about the 60s and 70s, and everything I love about being a woman.

DREAMGIRLS, if you don't know, is about a three-woman singing group (sort of like The Supremes, though I'm sure that's a coincidence) that made some tough changes in order to achieve success. It hits all the hot topics: beauty, love, family, sex, and--the albatross around all our necks--body image. And then there's the music: these women can SING! I don't know why the American people didn't vote Jennifer Hudson American Idol, but frankly I’m glad they didn't because it left her free to make this movie. And we can't forget the men: Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, and Keith Robinson are supremely talented--and very nice to look at.

This has always been one of my favorite musicals, so I'm thrilled to see it on screen. What about you? Do you have a favorite book or stage show you'd love to see on the big screen?

Wow! You're making me want to see this movie! The previews do look good.

I'd like to see a great version of Les Miserables. The Claire Danes one years ago was not so good.

I heard Eddie Murphy is Oscar-worthy. Can't wait to see it.
