WHY I LOVE MY HUSBAND

By now, many of you have probably seen the video trailer for my new book, IN MY WILDEST FANTASIES, which is on YouTube and embedded just below.

This was the first time I did a trailer for one of my books. It was important to me to do something high quality but fun and different at the same time, so, naturally, I handed the project over to my husband, who is a medical doctor.

I know, I know. That makes no sense. Medicine is a far cry from the glamorous life of show biz. But luckily for me, my husband has a secret parallel life. For the past three years, he's been making movies in his spare time, writing scripts and producing, and he even directed a short film which was screened at six film festivals, including Montreal, Winnipeg, and Ecuador, of all places. As a result, he knows some very talented local filmmakers, so I knew I would be in good hands with the project.

So off we went, with a wacky concept and bunch of maverick filmmakers who were all over the idea of doing a video trailer for a romance novel that had WILDEST FANTASIES as part of the title.

The trailer is out there on the web now and we've been getting great feedback. If you haven't seen it, here it is!

People are asking neat questions about it, so I thought I'd answer some of the popular ones here:

Question 1: Is the actress in the trailer the same woman on the cover of the book?
No. Her name is Holly Stevens and she's a professional actress from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was very easy to cast. I knew the moment I saw her audition tape that she was our girl. Here's a link to Check out her audition tape. Not only is she gorgeous, but she has an innovative approach to an audition tape--and clearly has a sense of humor.

Question 2: Was a mannequin used when the hero is flopping the heroine on the bed?
No, that was Holly. The bed is really springy and it was a riot on the set. They kept having to yell "CUT" because everyone was laughing.

Question 3: Where did the actors come from and were they pros?
Yes and no. You already know about Holly. Adrian Veinot, who played “the lover,” is a professional model. This was his first acting gig.

Question 3: Where was it filmed?
We transformed my dining room and living room into a Victorian boudoir.

Question 3: Why do you have two versions on YouTube?
We cut two versions – a short and long because we weren't sure which would work better. We showed both of them to a number of people to see which one they liked best. It was always a 50-50 response. One person would like the long version, another would like the short, so we decided to upload both. Now I have a voting poll on my website, so if you want to see both versions and let me know which you like better, you can vote HERE.

And if you're blogging around today, I'm also talking about the trailer (and giving away a book to one lucky winner) over at Dionne Galace's blog - It Ain't Chick Porn.
