With the chilly breeze and azure August/September skies this past week, there's no denying the end of summer is near. Here in New York City that means a sudden and oppressive crush of people home from vacations and students headed back to school all added back into the morning commute. I won't complain too much, though. I've always loved fall: crisp jeans and sweater weather, brilliant foliage, roasted pumpkin seeds and hot cups of tea...
But for this weekend, at least, I'm going to keep that bathing suit and beach towel ready for one last hurrah before autumn truly arrives. And--for the perfect thematic tie-in that I just couldn't resist--I think I may just tuck bestselling memoirist (and former protégé of JD Salinger) Joyce Maynard's newest work of fiction about a young boy's coming of age, into my beach bag...
What will you be reading this long weekend?
