For the 25 of you out there who don't know, the "Rita" is the Oscar(c) of the romance community. Though many authors protest to the contrary, it is a pretty well known fact that getting this very large, very gold statue is a lot of fun.

Annually, the ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA host a five day convention which culminates with the presentation of the Rita Awards. Thousands of romance writers gather in a large ballroom, wearing extravagant dresses, to cheer on their peers. Thanks to one's publisher, agent, and pizza delivery man usually accompany the receipt of these awards.
