I am an avid reader, however, I am EMBARRASSED to carry around books that have “sexual” pictures on the cover! I am a college graduate. I particularly like mystery and romance novels. I would love to be able to take a book with me wherever I go, but I always feel the need to hide the cover! I even became embarrassed for my 6 and 8 year old children to see these books when my 6 year old daughter asked me one day, “Mom, what are they doing?” and pointed to the lead characters of the novel I was reading depicted on the front cover of a book. It looked like the woman was having an orgasm! Ironically, the novel wasn’t even categorized as a “romance”. Some novels have pictures of men half naked on the cover. While these models are admittedly beautiful, it’s still embarrassing to have other people see me reading these books.

I would think that you would want to encourage your readers to read your books as often as possible yet your cover art keeps many people from doing that.
